Cecily Batiste Dawson is a trauma therapist, PhD candidate, and licensed professional counselor supervisor specializing in race-based trauma and cultural competence. Her research focuses on addressing systemic gaps in training and preparedness among counselors in the Southern U.S. With a practical, evidence-based approach, she enhances counselor competencies, advocating for improved training standards to support Black clients. Her work aims to advance mental health care, empowering counselors to deliver culturally sensitive and effective support to diverse communities.

Course Summary:
This workshop, "From Awareness to Action: Equipping Licensed Counselors to Address Race-Based Trauma in Black American Clients," focuses on empowering counselors to recognize, address, and support clients experiencing race-based trauma. Participants will learn to identify symptoms of race-based trauma and its intergenerational effects on mental and physical health.
