Presenter's Bio:

Dr. Joanna L. Rosen, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in Connecticut and New York with over 25 years of experience specializing in trauma prevention, response, and recovery. She holds a Doctor of Psychology from Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Rosen has worked extensively with individuals affected by both large-scale events and personal traumas, including natural disasters, school shootings, terrorism, sudden traumatic loss, and complicated grief.

In her Newtown, Connecticut practice, Dr. Rosen utilizes advanced brain science and evidence-based treatments, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She specializes in Intensive Trauma Therapy, a focused approach that accelerates healing and rapidly reduces symptoms of post-traumatic distress.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Rosen founded BETWEEN2EARS®, a trauma consultancy offering trauma-informed training and consultation to individuals, professionals, and communities. Through this platform, she promotes trauma awareness and resilience, equipping professionals with skills for responsive, compassionate trauma care.

As a dedicated member of the Fairfield County Trauma Response Team and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, Dr. Rosen supports first responders, healthcare providers, and communities dealing with traumatic stress. Her work underscores the importance of integrating trauma-informed care into everyday practice, fostering collaborative approaches for more effective mental health outcomes.

Course Summary:

This workshop introduces an innovative, collaborative approach to addressing the trauma epidemic through intensive trauma therapy as a specialized, adjunctive intervention. Dr. Joanna L. Rosen, PsyD demonstrates how primary mental health providers can effectively collaborate with trauma specialists to reduce clients’ acute distress, accelerating recovery and improving overall outcomes. This approach enhances patient care while also easing the workload on primary providers. Attendees will gain insights into recognizing and addressing trauma within general practice, developing collaborative care pathways, and making effective referrals to trauma specialists, ultimately prioritizing both client and clinician well-being.
